Steve Shook

Steve Shook is a practicing CPA (certified public accountant).  He has served as a business and tax advisor to growth-oriented companies in many different industries.  He held an interim finance position with Applied Materials, Inc.'s manufacturing division as well as a senior financial position for a manufacturing services company that supported the semiconductor industry.


Bill Volk

Bill Volk specializes in corporate finance and securities.  He is experienced in many different industries and has worked with numerous venture capital firms and private equity investors.  He has been recognized as one of the "Texas Super Lawyers" in Texas Monthly magazine from 2003-2010.


Carolyn Gallagher

Carolyn Gallagher served as Governor of the U.S. Postal Service after being appointed by former President George W. Bush in 2004.  She is considered a community leader in Austin chairing several nonprofit boards.


Donna Stockton-Hicks

Donna Stockton-Hicks has worked philanthropically with the Rise School of Austin; an organization designed to help parents of children with Down Syndrome find appropriate early childhood education.  Donna also specializes in interior design.  Her work has been published in many popular publications.



Ray Benson

Ray Benson is the front man of the Western swing band Asleep at the Wheel.  They've released more than 20 albums and earned 9 Grammy awards.  Benson is also a founding member of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, which raises money to help aging R&B artists, and past member of the board of directors of the SIMS Foundation which provides low-cost mental health services to Austin musicians and their families. 


Carmel Borders

Carmel Borders is president of the Tapestry Foundation whose primary focus is early childhood education and social emotional learning.   Borders is past chair and board member of the National Institute for Literacy.  She's also served on the boards of  Texas State Board for Educator Certification and the Texas Book Festival.  She currently serves on the  National Jump Start Board,  Austin Community Foundation, Westcave Preserve, and the Advisory Council for Success by Six of Central Texas.   Borders is a member of the University of Michigan President's Advisory Group and the Chancellor's Board  for the University of Texas Systems.  An educator for 20 years, she has seen the benefits of early education and social  emotional learning.  Borders received her B.A. and M.A. from  the University of Michigan.  She has three children and lives in Austin, TX with her husband, Tom. 


Gigi Bryant

Gigi Bryant was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the chair position of the Family and Protective Services Council where she currently serves.  She also serves on the board of many Austin organizations including the Austin Community College Foundation, Mount Sinai Christian Academy, and Austin Operation Blue Santa.

 

Graciela Cigarroa

Graciela Cigarroa is a private practice attorney with a focus on nonprofit law.  Graciela and her husband, Francisco G. Cigarroa, M.D., share a passion for providing health services through numerous community projects throughout Texas.


JoLynn Free

JoLynn Free has played a major role in Austin philanthropy for the past 30 years, holding board positions on many local organizations.  She feels privileged and rewarded everyday to serve the Austin community with a passion for cultural arts and fundraising.


Sandy Gottesman

Sanford (Sandy) Gottesman played an integral role in the industrial development of Austin as founder of The Gottesman Company.  Sandy has been instrumental in projects such as The Arboretum, Tech Ridge, and the restoration of many historic downtown buildings.

 

Chris Harte

Christopher Harte is an Investment Manager and served as President of the Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram for two years.  He was a management Consultant at McKinsey & Company and was publisher of the Centre Daily Times in State College, PA, the Akron Beacon Journal, the Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram. Mr. Harte has been a Director of Harte-Hanks Communications Inc., (a direct marketing and shopper publishing company) since 1993 and serves as Chairman of Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and Member of Compensation Committee.


Dan Herd

Dan Herd formed his own law firm, Herd & Cowden, in 1980.  In 1983, he began investing in and developing commercial real estate in Central Texas after forming Live Oak Development.  Once his reputation for quality work was built, he branched out to provide property management and other real estate services for third-party entities.


Jan Lehman

Jan Lehman is an Austin native and an active member of the community, personally, and professionally.  She is the founder of Lehman Associates providing customized searches for the public and private sectors.  Jan has served on the boards of numerous private and nonprofit corporations.


Lew Little, Jr.

Lew Little served as a president of Capstar Partners, LLC before forming Harden Healthcare, LLC in 2001.  Previous to working with Capstar, Little was president of Bank of America in Austin, Texas from 1984-1999.  Little was named Entrepreneur of the Year in Austin by Ernst and Young in 2005.


Rosie Mendoza

Rosie Mendoza is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Texas.  She has more than six years of experience as a comptroller of a major nonprofit entity and more than 15 years of public accounting experience, including experience with the national accounting firm of KPMG.  In her 25 years of service, she has provided audit and consulting services to a wide variety of clients including nonprofits, governmental entities and other commercial entities.  Mendoza currently serves as the managing shareholder for R. Mendoza & Company, P.C., and as the chairperson for Central Health.  Mendoza has been an active volunteer for numerous charitable organizations throughout her career.  In addition to serving a four-year term as Treasurer and a Board of Manager for the Travis County Healthcare District, she also serves as Treasurer and Board of Manager for the Travis County Healthcare District, she also serves as Treasurer and Board of Director of Annie's List, Board of Director of the Austin Geriatric Center, Inc. and Austin Recovery.  In 2006, she also served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.


Hal Peterson

Hal Peterson is a co-founder of Durbin Bennett Peterson Private Wealth Management, LLP.  As of December 2010, the firm has managed over $700 million in assets.  Hal serves on multiple local organization boards including the Boys and Girls Club of Austin and the Austin Parks Foundation.


David Porter

David Porter serves a A Glimmer of Hope Foundation's Executive Director.  Before joining the Glimmer Austin Team in 2003, he worked for a broad range of companies and organizations including IBM, UPS, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Austin, Austin ISD, Austin/Travis County Youth Advocate Program and City of Austin Police Department.  He continues to work with various organizations in the city and county to provide after-school programs and basic services to those who are underprivileged and often neglected.


Rob Repass

Rob is a partner with Maxwell Locke & Ritter, an Austin-based accounting and professional services firm.  His previous experience includes serving as Senior Vice President and CFO of Motion Computing, as a partner with the venture capital investment firm, TL Ventures, and managing partner of the Austin office for PricewaterhouseCoopers.  He has extensive experience working with private equity and venture capital investment firms and their portfolio companies.  In addition to his role at the Austin Community Foundation, Rob serves on the Board of the Mueller Foundation and various committees of the Seton Family of Hospitals.


Rick Salwen

Rick Salwen is known for his role as General Counsel to Dell Computer Corporation, reporting directly to Michael Dell, when the company grew from $250 million to $5 billion.  During Dell's early stages, he played an integral part in the negotiations of technology licensing and commercial agreements.  He also spent a great deal of time investing in start-ups during the dot-com boom.


Evan Smith

Evan Smith is the editor-in-chief and CEO of The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit, non-partisan digital news organization based in Austin.  The Tribune's deep coverage of Texas politics and public policy can be found on the website, TexasTribune.org; in the pages of the New York Times; and in newspapers and on TV and radio stations across the state.  In a little more than two years, the Tribune has won two Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association, a general excellence award from the Online News Association and a Knight-Batten award for innovations in journalism.  Before co-founding the Tribune, Smith spent nearly 18 years at Texas Monthly, including eight years as editor and a year as President and Editor in Chief.  On his watch, Texas Monthly was twice awarded the National Magazine Award for General Excellence.  Smith currently serves on the Medill School of Journalism board of advisers and the Texas Book Festival board of directors.  Smith has also served on the boards of The Blanton Museum, The Austin Film Society, KLRU, and Trinity Episcopal School.
